VISITATION - Two Vincentians visit the needy in their homes to provide spiritual support and economic assistance. During the year 2003, Wilmington St. Vincent de Paul members visited 17,000 needy and suffering clients in their homes, in prisons, in hospitals and in old age/retirement homes. While we are a Catholic organization, over 80% of the people we help are non- Catholics. We make no distinction in those served because in them Vincentians see the face of Christ.
PRISON MINISTRY - There are two prison conferences in
Delaware - The Delaware Correctional Center in Smyrna, DE; which houses
men, and The
Baylor Correctional Center in New Castle, DE; which houses women. Our prison inmate members distribute personal care items (deodorant,
shampoo, soap, etc.) to the poorest inmates and we also conduct a
"Prison to Work" program whereby we help released inmates find housing,
a job, clothes, furniture, etc.
